Why Democrats (and Independents) should support repealing Obamacare

I have posted many unpopular hated opinions on DailyKos, and this will, I’m sure, be equally unpopular. Trump has the lowest approval rating of any president since records have been kept. It’s important that the Republican party, and conservatism in general, be forever associated with Trump and his dubious “legacy.”

The best way to do this, is to associate, forever, Republicans with the murderous plans of the Republican elite. Conservatives will never care about Islamophobia, gay rights, institutionalized racism, or really any other liberal concerns. What they do care about now, and will continue to care about, is their lives and their health. In fact, polls show that the large Republican masses dislike Trumpcare almost as much as liberals do.

Given the chance, the Republican elite will slowly and incrementally obstruct and destroy Obamacare, while blaming its failures on a “failed idea.” Then, once high levels of uninsured are again the “new normal.” They will repeal it in toto. By doing this over time, they will be able to avoid culpability. They will in fact lay the failure at the feet of the Democratic party.

The Democratic party, and liberals in general, need to recognize that the Republican controlled Presidency, House, Senate, and soon Supreme Court, will ensure that Obamacare fails even if it is never repealed. Instead of allowing Obamacare to be slowly and carefully eroded, we should seize this opportunity to allow the Republican party enough rope to hang itself. We should allow the Republicans to repeal Obamacare, but as quickly and with as little preparation as possible. Let them own the deaths that will ensue, rather than allowing the deaths (inevitable anyway, due to Republican obstructionism) to be attributed to “the damn liberals.”
